(Answer at the end).

TIME

By Charles Kocian

Since caveman, man likes to measure its surroundings, including time, and sometimes its survival depends on its accuracy.  But if you think about it, time cannot exist without entities moving. In fact, time is the distance you move in a certain velocity. For instance, you move 100 miles in one hour. So, velocity depends on time, and time depends on velocity, but both depends from moving-entities. From the formula velocity being equal to distance over time, you can get that time is equal for distance over velocity.

The Time Formula.

Although ancient cultures didn’t know that the Earth was moving around the sun, they all perceived the season changes cycle. From those observations the four seasons, solstices and equinoxes were obvious.

As schoolchildren, we learned that the earth is moving about our sun in almost a circular orbit, covering its route at a speed of 67 000 miles per hour.

So, for now we can say that time is the distance an entity travels from point A to point B at a certain velocity.

The entity Earth moving-cycle arround the entity Sun.

All ancient societies were aware of the changes of the seasons, so they celebrated the new year in the springtime. Roman consul Julius Caesar, with the aid of Greek astronomers, reformed the Roman calendar on the 1st of January in the year 45 BC. It became the predominant calendar in the Roman Empire for 1,600 years until 1582, when Pope Gregory XIII stablished the Gregorian Calendar.

Pope Gregory XIII

As we said, before the Gregorian Calendar, the Julian calendar was used for 1,600 years, and is still used in the Eastern Orthodox Church today. They celebrate the New Year in January 14th with fireworks and meals in company of family and friends.

Some Orthodox New Year events, like in the Russian Orthodox Church, host gala dinners to raise funds for charitable causes or church building restorations.

Russian Orthodox Church.

The Russian Orthodox Church, also known as the Moscow Patriarchate is the largest autocephalous Eastern Orthodox Christian church inside Russia, being the Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus’.

Kievan Rus’ Christianity started 988 with the baptism of Vladimir the Great, the Rus’ Grand Prince of Kiev. He and his people were baptized by the clergy of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. Their calendar was the Julian Calendar.

Julian Calendar.

Before the Roman Empire, all Greek Polis regulated their calendars by the moon cycles but in different dates. For instance, in Delphos, they celebrated the new year in the first New Moon after the Summer Solstice, but in Sparta, Rhodes, Crete and Miletos the New Year began with the Autumnal Equinox.

Athenians had The Attic Calendar and celebrated the New Year in the beginning of midsummer with the lunar month of Hekatombaion.

CONCLUSION

The Earth Calendar measures the distance that The Earth moves around the Sun in a year at his speed of 67,000 miles per hour. But if time measures the distance of an entity moving from point A to point B at a certain velocity, we can conclude that without entities, movement doesn’t exist, therefore, without entities-moving, time doesn’t exist either.

Now answer to question 32.

QUESTION N° 32

The corollary of the “Primacy of Existence over Consciousness” refers to the fact that first you perceive an entity, then that entity come to existence.

a) True

b) False

The answer is: false. Entities exists first, independently if you perceive them or not. After this fact, you can perceive them. Existence always precedes consciousness, necessarily. Therefore, you need to perceive moving-entities first to be consciousness of time.
