As we said in the last post, if everything has a TELOS, a purpose, then, the Telos of a knife is to cut; if it cuts well, it’s a good knife. The Telos of a clock, is to measure time; if it measures well, is a good clock. Therefore, the Telos of a man (the rational-animal), is its reason; if his rationality is good, he is a good man. Remember that reason is the faculty that identifies and integrates the material provided by man’s senses. So, in his daily life, man through his senses and brain, can know the objective physical space where he lives. If he is going to pursue happiness, better to do it in the physical space ruled by classic physics laws and classic logic. Otherwise, he will experience cognitive dissonance between his mind and body, between his sensory perceptions and thoughts, and will be trapped in self-deception, bad decisions and failure. The conclusion is that, only the optimal-rational-animal can morally be a good man, because he fulfils its Telos. To do that, he needs to discover that reason begins with its sensory perceptions of the objective physical space where his biologic mortal body lives, and only one time. This reasoning and insights are neuronal activities that occurs in one brain. “Aha moments”, they can be shared, but are individual experiences. Do you grasp the difference between the physical space and the imaginary space Plato invented? Reason occurs in one body and one brain. One thousand Einstein cannot write e = mc2. To think is an individual choice.
