With the military situation in Ukraine there are new geopolitical changes last week. Finland and Sweden joining NATO and NATO drawing lines for the future of the Baltic Sea, an important strategic geopolitical salt lake in the limits of West and East.
It’s obvious that different cultures have different paradigms. But, if science is one, and we perceive the same planet with the same senses, why East and West cannot agree?
Russia, is the Orthodox Church; Europe, the Vatican. If they share the same God, why they don’t agree?
Vatican.
Russia has different geography, clime and many cultural differences with Europe.
Its obvious that culture shapes man’s personality programming mind’s children. But good things can happen and, has happened.
The Renaissance rediscovered Roman and Greek culture in the 1500s. It was the European spring in art, architecture, literature, science, music, philosophy and politics and, it has been interpreted, as the cause of the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution.
But Rome’s culture never reached today’s Russia, when it ruled Europe and the Mediterranean Sea, more than a millennia before.
Rome’s Coliseum.
According to Franz Boas, pioneer of Psychological Anthropology, the study of the relationship between culture and personality, the latter is obtained through culture, not biology. His theory called Cultural Relativism gives a comprehensive understanding of the underlying relationship between culture and personality. Cultural psychologists and social anthropologists believe that culture affects one’s personality shaping our beliefs and values. But this “cultural imprint” also happens in other type of animals.
Konrad Lorenz and its goslings.
Konrad Lorenz, a famous zoologist in the 1930s invented the word “imprinting”. Imprinting happens when an animal forms an attachment to the first thing it sees upon hatching. Lorenz discovered that newly hatched goslings would follow the first moving object they saw, often himself, as we can see in the picture.
The conclusion is that East and West authorities had been imprinted by their owns cultures, producing man with different values. The good news are, that science is a common value; the bad, that rulers and ruled evade the fact.
